My last two articles have covered iron ore mining and grain harvesting in Minnesota so today I am bringing the two together. Both of the post cards shown are 1940s E. C. Kropp linen postcards of the port facilities at the Duluth Superior Minnesota harbor. This is a land locked harbor that had 54 miles of docks and was second only to New York in tonnage at that time. The first postcard shows grain being loaded in a freighter.
The second post card shows the freighter John & Cowle at the giant iron ore loading docks. Both of these post cards are available in my Minnesota listings along with 10,000 additional postcards on my website Moody's Postcards.
CATCH POSTCARD FEVER!! The hobby that illuminates history.
